Responsibilities

As a Family Physician, your duties may include the following:

• Collect medical information from patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals
• Examine patients to identify diseases, injuries, and other health conditions
• Take patients’ medical histories and assess their overall health
• Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures
• Determine appropriate medical treatments based on patients’ conditions
• Consult with other medical practitioners regarding patients’ physical and mental health
• Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
• Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases
• Advise patients on healthcare and wellness
• Help patients develop healthy habits and make positive lifestyle changes
• Participate in healthcare policy and planning
• Work with healthcare professionals and working groups when required
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ ongoing health needs

Qualifications

To qualify for this job, you need the following:

English

Education

Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry

Experience

1 to less than 7 months

Professional Certification

Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities is required.
